Q. Toilets. There Are Never Enough, Right?

This is always a problem, so fix it! Everyone knows "women take longer. "Extensive research proves women take an average of 1 minute and 46 seconds in a portable toilet, while men average 47 seconds. The standard running event ratio is one portable toilet per 100 athletes. Based upon the above mentioned research, we will have one per 40. "Ready, Sit and Go!" And you will love our bouquet of fresh flowers in each Port-a-Potty.

Q. Are Men Allowed?

Yes, men can participate, especially if they are fundraising for our designated charity. Please note that all garments and prizing will be designed with women in mind. There will be no age group or overall prizes for men. Any man looking for a prize or a personal best should perhaps enter another race.

Q. Are Walkers Welcome?

Walkers are outstanding athletes, setting and achieving goals. Not only are walkers welcome in the Niagara Falls Women's Half Marathon, but enthusiastically welcome. The red carpet is out. Please note the course time limit below. And, there will be no separate age group prizing for walkers.

Q. Course Time Limit?

The course will be closed after four hours. This allows for a pace of 18:20 minutes per mile, or 11:24 minutes per km. Athletes not keeping up to this pace will be asked to leave the course. Due to insurance liability reasons, anyone not keeping this pace will not be allowed to continue on the pathway or sidewalks. They will be transported to the finish line.

Q. Age Requirements?

There are no minimum age requirements, but please be sensible. No maximum age limit, either. Cmon, Aunt Helen.

Q. Awards and Prizes?

The first three runners to finish will be recognized with prizes. These winners will be based on g un time. And, the first, second and third place finishers in each age group will receive prizes. Chip time will be used to determine these prize winners.

Q. Age Groups:

19 and under 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over!

Q. What time does the Half Marathon start?

The Half Marathon starts at 8:00 am.

Plan to arrive by 6:30 am. The music and fun begins at our Start/Finish area. Relax, stretch, meet other fantastic women, and be EMPOWERED. Use the toilets early! Avoid the line-ups.

Q. What time does the 5K start?

The 5K starts at 8:00 am.

Q. PARKING near the Start/Finish Area?

Over 1,400 parking spots within 400 metres of the Start/Finish area. $10 per car. Purchase your express parking voucher in advance, at Packet Pick Up. Plan to arrive by 6:30 am on Sunday morning.

Q. Can I Cancel After Registering If I Am Unable To Attend The Run?

There will be no refunds.

Q. Can A Registration Be Transferred To Someone Else?

No. This would mess up our Age Group results.

Q. Will There Be Packet Pick Up On Sunday, June 2?

Yes, between 6 a.m. - 7 a.m. at our tent located at the Start/Finish area. Please note: cosmetics and wine not guaranteed.

Q. Passports Needed For Americans?

US residents must have a valid passport when traveling to the event. US Customs requires that all US Citizens present their passport when returning to the United States.

Q. Will Someone Else Be Able To Pick-Up My Stuff For Me?

Yes, with a one line letter of authorization from you, and your confirmation number.

Q. Bibs?

BIG NAMES! Yes, if you enter by May 26, your first name will be in large print on your bib. What a thrill to hear spectators cheering for you.

Q. Strollers? Roller Blades? Pets?

No Roller Blades or Pets on course, for safety reasons. And, entrants pushing strollers should plan to line up near the rear of the starting area.

Q. Headphone Policy?

And, so that you can fully enjoy the magnificent course, the roar of the Falls and the cheers of other athletes and spectators, we strongly recommend that you leave your in-ear music at home during this event.

Q. Water Stations?

There will be five. At the 5km, 9km, 12.5km, 15.5km and 19km marks. Water and POWERADE.

Q. The Charities:

Heartland Forest and the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Q. Medals:

Yes, athletes, every runner or walker who finishes the 21.1km distance you will receive our unique and beautiful medal. Hung around your neck, with congratulations from a firefighter. What an accomplishment!

Q. Race Results:

A Results Board will be continually updated as runners and walkers finish the Half Marathon. Official results will be available at www.nfwhm.com

Q. How About Elite Runners?

We love having really fast runners enter our Niagara Falls Womens Half Marathon, but there will be no cash prizes. With our out and back course layout, the middle of the pack and back of the pack runners and walkers will have two opportunities to cheer on the fastest athletes. And vice versa.

Q. Is This A Fast Course?

Elizabeth Primrose, a previous winner, said I love this flat and fast course. And what a positive feeling. So much cheering for each other on the out and back course.

Q. Spectators?

This is a very friendly course for spectators. It is easy to get to beautiful Queen Victoria Park, at the bottom of Murray Hill right opposite the American Falls. Wow! Or, its only one kilometre from the Start/Finish area to Chippawa, where runners and walkers will cross the Weightman Bridge twice. Or, watch the start, then walk 300 metres to the Niagara Parkway, cheer for your favourite athlete as she passes the 7 km Mark, then return to the Start/Fin ish area. There are many choices.

Q. Music?

We know you want music and fun. The Niagara Falls Womens Half Marathon will set a new standard for musical entertainment before, during and after the event. Drum lines, Jazz, a Harpist, Ukeleles, Rock and Roll and more...

Q. Course Map?

Click here to see our magnificent course. Yes, you will be running or walking past The Falls TWICE! Then, there are continual views of the rapids above the Falls and then the mighty Niagara River.
