Frequently Asked Questions

Toilets. There are never enough, right?
This is always a problem, so we going to fix it. Everyone knows "women take longer." Extensive research proves women take an average of 1 minute and 46 seconds in a portable toilet, while men average 47 seconds. The standard running event ratio is one portable toilet per 100 athletes. Based upon the above mentioned research, we will have one per 40. "Ready, Sit and Go.!"

Are Men Allowed?
Yes, men can participate, especially if they are fundraising for our designated charities. Please note that all garments and prizing will be designed with women in mind. There will be no age group or overall prizes for men. Any man looking for a prize or a PB should perhaps enter one of the other races in the area.

Are Walkers Welcome?
Walkers are outstanding athletes, setting and achieving goals. Not only are walkers welcome in the Niagara Falls Women's Half Marathon, but enthusiastically welcome. The red carpet is out. Please note the course time limit below. And, there will be no separate age group prizing for walkers.

Course Time Limit?
The course will be closed after four hours. This allows for a pace of 18:20 minutes per mile, or 11:24 minutes per km. Athletes not keeping up to this pace will be asked to leave the course. Due to insurance liability reasons, anyone not keeping this pace will not be allowed to continue on the pathway or sidewalks. They will be transported to the finish line.

Age Requirements?
There are no minimum age requirements, but please be sensible. No maximum age limit, either. C'mon, Aunt Helen.

Awards and Prizes?
The first three runners to finish will be recognized with prizes. These winners will be based on "gun time", as opposed to "chip time." And, the first, second and third place finishers in each age group will receive prizes. Chip time will be used to determine these prize winners, and prizes will be given as results become available.
